Abstract
Une mine à découvrir : la Police aux Archives de la Ville de Bruxelles Cet article propose une présentation des archives de la police aux Archives de la Ville de Bruxelles. A partir des grandes séries conservées, il s'interroge sur leur intérêt dans le cadre de la recherche historique en termes de fonctionnement, d'organisation ou de composition de la police d'abord, en termes d'histoire urbaine ensuite, en termes d'histoire politique enfin. Il revient également sur les enjeux que pose la réforme des polices à une structure comme les AVB, quant à la conservation des archives des nouvelles zones de police. Een te ontdekken goudmijn: de politie in de Archieven van de Stad Brussel Deze bijdrage behandelt de politiearchieven bewaard in de Archieven van de stad Brussel. Vertrekkend van de voornaamste bronnenreeksen, wordt ingegaan op hun belang voor het historisch onderzoek betreffende de werking, de organisatie en de samenstelling van het Brusselse politiekorps, meer bepaald voor studies binnen de stadsgeschiedenis en ten slotte voor werk betreffende de politieke geschiedenis. Daarnaast wordt ook ingegaan op de uitdagingen die de politiehervorming stelt voor een structuur als de ASB, op het vlak van de bewaring van de archieven van de nieuwe politiezones. A gold mine waiting to be exploited: the police in the Archives of the City of Brussels This article describes the collection of police records preserved in the Archives of the City of Brussels. Starting with the main series of sources, it discusses their importance for historical research on the functioning, the organisation and the composition of the Brussels police, within the domain of urban history and finally also for studies in political history. Further, attention is being paid to the challenges recent police reforms have brought about for an institution such as the ACB, with respect to the preservation of the archives of the newly created police zones.
