Abstract

Dès 1918, la Belgique fut confrontée à des problèmes que la plupart des pays européens ne découvriront qu'au lendemain de la Deuxième guerre mondiale. Comment sort-on d'une guerre d'occupation ? Comment reconstruit-on un État affaibli par l'occupation ? Comment répond-on à la demande collective de justice ? Le présent article interroge l'image de ceux que la population voulait voir châtiés, au nom de la "Belgique Martyre". Car cet imaginaire apparaît bien comme le miroir inversé du culte de la Patrie.
