Abstract

Op welke manier heeft het gerecht na de Tweede Wereldoorlog afgerekend met de economische collaborateurs, ondernemers die tijdens de bezetting zaken deden met de Duitsers? Het antwoord op deze vraag wordt vaak beantwoord met de stelling dat deze grote collaborateurs, die veel geld verdiend hadden, ongemoeid werden gelaten. In dit boek wordt deze opvatting, die gemeengoed is geworden, aan een kritisch onderzoek onderworpen. Was het zo dat gerecht en regering het eens waren dat de ondernemers niet moesten worden vervolgd en bestraft omdat ze nodig waren voor de wederopbouw? Moesten alleen de spreekwoordelijke 'kleine garnalen' boeten? Wie werd vervolgd en wie werd er niet verontrust en om welke redenen? Dit zijn enkele vragen waarop in dit werk een antwoord wordt gegeven.
